Forum with edit tracking
Today I realized the vBulletin software does not, and cannot, display any notice of edits on blog posts.
Zero way to add it other than perhaps a custom plug in.
For a while now I've wished that vBulletin had Wikipedia style edit tracking of all posts (i.e. view edit history / older versions of a post).
But at least it shows edit status in a y/n manner (in a single, non-indexed manner).
It led to me researching the topic and oh vey / uff da what a debate.
At a guess, some programmers / neuroatypicals really hated the power imbalance and non-edit track-ability with forum software offerings (Rugged individualists participating in a community? OCD types? Concerned citizen activist? What, pray tell, spurs activity, generally speaking most typically?).
There's nothing intended to be mocking in these potential descriptions, but outrage is the quickest and easiest emotion to push a person to, online and off, and politics proves it's used for effect.
And very likely they are targeting the influencer crowd (FB, Insta, et cetera) in a platform shaping manner.
And if some folks didn't like forums, for whatever reason, then making a product that "blogifies forums" is like a decentralized social attack on traditional forums.
And while I haven't been able to access their manifesto, by logic I haven't seen any fundamental difference between Muut and traditional forums (other than leaders and companies).
I guess the only argument is individual empowerment because it's possible to use another company, in a different location Or perhaps they solve a perceived entry hurdle (arguably the only argument for 'empowerment'), if it's an easy add and easy to run.
'moot manifesto,' google it doh!
(I have not found a readable version)
A Portland startup, arguably located in Helsinki.

IDK about all that moot / muut stuff, but at a glance I can see a lot of room to improve the forum experience.
I hope vBulletin develops a Wiki style edit tracking feature in a future release, and I will be keeping my eye open for that on any of the standard forum software options.
I found my initial data on Muut here:

I really don't like the 5 minute edit window / limit on posts, it is very unfriendly to anyone with a language disability / difference such as dsylexia.
Fascinating conversation here:

Lots of good feature ideas. I'll be exploring Discourse, but don't anticipate any fast change to the LHBA forum.
On a lighter side, humor I almost get:

I thought about it overnight.
A quest for individual followers, individual legacy and individual monetization.
Bypassing Insta, FB, traditional forums, etc.
Same crap, different delivery.
For some it will work out great. I believe that.
For others, it will work out like Red Jacket Firearms and NXIVM.
What's the ratio of it working out well to going horribly wrong, with increasing the power of the Blog-o-sphere?
Well, that question should keep those Moot/Muut developers up at night.
Phrased another way, figure out how to protect the "customer's of your customers" as the Muut product is developed.
At the very least, perhaps integrate some mental health help buttons, some non-removable/editable pop-ups/stickies that contain information about social cautions and resources.
In other words, hard wire the right features into the system.

AI / vBulliten case use:
Concept: user could select a topic, a post or a forum member and then AI could sort by, analyze and presents data in AI generated text form, audio form or video form.
Heck it could call you on the phone and simply have a conversation about your prompt request.
Step one: User selects post, user, thread or topic (or combination).
Step two: User selects one of several pre-written AI prompts, or possibly create their own.
- Find all related posts by subject. Produce a number123 page summary of the subject. Select secondary emphasis on XYZ factors (cost, speed, location, etc).
- Find all related posts by poster. Generate a 10 minute video based upon what that poster wrote, that visually presents their written experience of installing their RPSL.
- Produce a psychological profile of a specific poster, present it in both a written format and a video format. For the written format use the writing style of Sigmund Freud. For the video format use the voice and likeness of Carl Jung.
Step three: receive the results.
It's 2024, we humans are not dumb.
