Catching up from summer

"I'm going to blog my whole experience" - A great intention, but easier said than done. I moved into a new position at work last summer, and although I love what I'm doing, it was a big schedule change, its a lot more work, and I don't have as much time to spend on the property. Oh well, life happens.
My last writing brought us up to finally buying our dream property. At times I never thought that was going to happen, but hard work and not giving up on our dream was what kept us going. Last summer I went straight to work getting all of the documents and paperwork that the county needed. Although I really wanted to go straight to work on the property, I decided the best use of my time was getting everything squared away with the county (before they changed the rules).
This spring I rented an excavator and had a few friends come over for a work party. We got a lot of brush cleaned out, droped a few trees, and cleared a site for a pole building. A month later my family spent a week at the property camping, exploring, riding dirt bikes, shooting the .22, and just having a great time relaxing. My wife thought it was awesome when a moose walked through camp one morning while we were having coffee around the camp fire.
The next work party was in August; same friends, smaller excavator. We cleared more land, fell more trees, rode more dirt bikes, but also got the frame work of the pole building up. That will most likely be the end of the work for this year, but we got a lot done and are making plans for next year.

Side note - My friends and I are all trained and experienced in felling trees. Please don't attempt to do your own logging if you have not been trained. It can be very dangerous when things go wrong.
