Log Home Living Magazine forum has shut down (and been deleted from the internet) by Corporate.
I looked at it a few times, years ago.
I'm not surprised that it was shut down.
Bodybuilding.com's forum has shut down (and been deleted from the internet) by Corporate.
That's nuts.
I never registered for that forum, but I utilized it's knowledge base intensely for a couple years.
There was lots of machismo B.S., and offensive language but there was also some absolutely good information.
Some content/threads/posters that offered a level of detail that was... seriously correct.
I see about as much B.S. (wrong info, machismo, et cetera) on today's 'Socials' as I used to see on bodybuilding.com's forum.
And there's also some great content on the modern platforms -- but none as easily searchable as the old forum platform.
As a side note, one of the largest forums for hiking (the largest?) keeps a list of 'secret' trails.
I don't recall the forum name, and can't find the info source that I originally read, so this is from memory...
Users report trails (locations, reviews, recommended skill level, suggested equipment, et cetera). The forum publishes them.
Some trails are deemed to be 'trails, but not safe trails.' And those are not published on their public dataset, but are maintained as a private list.
That's an odd phenomenon to fully contemplate.
For all the good stuff that was on the bodybuilding.com forum, the internet is made poorer by its absence.
Perhaps the content will reappear as a read only archive, if nothing else.
And if corporate wanted to, the offensive language could be given the: "delete and replace with $@#!&$^#%" treatment via the database (welcome to 1984!)
Edited to add:
Bodybuilding.com forum was the fastest way to determine if a specific equipment manufacturer was good, and if a specific piece of equipment was worth its weight in regards to the effect it could produce.
Search, read three or four threads, done. I miss that.
