Spyderco Mariner

This is one of my favorite knives.
It is all stainless steel, so it has some heft.
It has a sheepsfoot blade, which I find to be a great style.
There's a solid lock-back and a single position clip
The blade is fully serrated (but I like this knife nonetheless).
This knife is illegal to carry in Seattle, because the sheepsfoot blade is 1/8" too long (but I like the city nonetheless).

Other than the normal maker's data, the blade is etched with:
MARINER

Upon the scale is etched in 3 lines:
ARCO, AK.
PRUDHOE BAY
SPILL RESPONSE TEAM

I often wonder, how many on the team,
Reflected upon an Albatross covered in oil, as they cleaned,
Humanities mess from the sea and the shore.

I purchased this knife at a thrift store for $20.
It is one of my favorite knives, and it's not because of the price.

But rather because it makes me think about responsibility.
And reflect upon religion's complexity.
And consider, how easy it is to harm and how hard it is to heal.

On a different level, it makes me aware of the stages of time/culture/society.
Between the oldest written epic poem, the first modern poem, and everything in the middle (in essence, three categories that are the same).
Lastly I settle, upon looking at the work product of this current time and contemplate that of the future.
