Haven't heard of them, but I believe you can make your own briquettes
and supply heat for cooking, hot water, etc. with the XL wood gassifier.
The price is something like $80 with shipping.

have not heard of that please enlighten me. www.burningissues.org group wants everyone to "familiarize" themselves with the Al Gore incentive, and I am all for renewable resources for heat, but after reading the entire thing I found no tangible immediate solution to my upcoming winter heating crisis. Know anything about a Garrison wood stove? I am going to look at one 36"x36"x18" with a soapstone top. The guy wants $250; no pipe included. I would love to make my own biobricks.........

It will take waste wood, burn off the gasses, and leave charcoal
(or so I've been told). The unit is very small (6" x 9" and puts out
12,000 BTU/ hr. This is plenty big for our well insulated guest house.
Might not even take much of the chill off a larger house. Here's how
