You should look into swing blade sawmills. I was turned on to them from a friend in the wood business. Wasn't sure at first but looks easier and faster.
Glad it all worked out. Must be a great feeling, running marathons soon. Oh BTW, you have a streaker in your house!
are they going to put in a wooden log joint?
Lol, my first one was a 32hp, was great for "almost" everything I did. But I didn't like that idea so I sold it and got the 50 after the first season. It always bothered me that the salesman asks you...
I am debating that as well. I have a 50 hp tractor and I really need a mini or mid size excavator for soooo many other things. My thought was to get the excavator and go as far as I could vertical...
I agree, get something on them no matter how cold it is.
The last set of poles I did was 14 years ago for a storage garage with no door. I just dug about a foot and a half in the ground and poured concrete in the dirt. Bought those post brackets to set in...
loghousenut really has some knowledge and a good explanation. I cringed when I saw the picture, I really couldn't imagine having to fix that. Addressing the cause would be first. If it were me, I...
I used to think it was fun but not anymore. I want my stuff to work so I can spend time doing what I bought it for. So instead of a car payment I have a Mahindra payment, it should be paid for by the...
I would have moved in long before that, I would be happy with 4 walls and some heat...
I usually estimate a budget and time, then double that and I'm good. But most times I would have to agree with previous statements.
There seems to be a good gap on price when you go to Woodmizer. I plan on getting a sawmill but not sure I will be able to afford one.
my wife was not really on board about the whole log house thing. it was just something else to be spending money on. So when I told her it was in Vegas, she was willing to go to the class, give and...
I believe we stayed at the Orleans, it is about a mile off the strip but we took the bus and/or taxi to the class and the strip. They were the best price and a great hotel because you could just go...
When the ladder gets that shaky, it's time to rethink things...
truly RUSTIC, well said
Pics!
LHN, like the random end cuts!
I thought it was odd to be able to learn the build in 2 days, however, after taking the class I came away knowing I could do it. It was actually simpler than I thought but knew it would be hard work....
even if they were all parallel, I bet there is no way it would move
That is one h*** of a door, LHn! I like it!
Great pic, that's what I'm talking about, one of my favorite builds so far...
That place looks nice, Prissy.
Kevin, I always liked the Blue ridge area, I am almost tempted to sell my NY place for a place down there, however, I'm not sure they get that much snow, which I...
Bo, that gap is fatter than some peoples logs, you are the cat daddy!
I've never heard this explained like that, makes sense.
I've seen that look before on my wife, usually when I did something wrong. I was curious as well, I understand the thermal mass thing but if you have fairly large gaps to fill, doesn't that take away...
