The LHBA has traditionally told members 'hacks' to work around building codes and remain technically compliant. Ways to speed up a project, build with out sacrificing quality. Ways to streamline process and save money, without significant risk of being red tagged. It was nowhere near an 'Anarchist Cookbook' style approach to building, but we did reserve the content to members only, because it had value, and also we didn't want to antagonize professional builders who could not use the legal 'hacks'

I never assume I'm the smartest person in the room, here's one reason why: family.

I have four brothers and one sister. Three siblings are from my family of origin (FOO)* and two are from my father's other two marriages. Those last two siblings are half Filipino and half American, but I don't call them half brothers. In order:

A government worker saved my geriatric mother - car accident

My mother likely drove for more years than she should have. I understand that is often a common behavior. Facing old age myself, I can understand the temptation. So I relate this tale in hopes it makes someone think carefully about their choice to drive as they age.
