Hey, lidrestl3. This is Rebecca and I currently live in Ozark MO, which is in Christian county. Christian county is the fastest growing county in all of Missouri. Which is one reason I want to get out of it. I will be taking the next class after the March class. Sorry, but I don't know where Shannon county is. What city are you near?

Hi Rebecca, Dave here in St Louis City for now. Shannon Co. is like 3 co's. to your east. Here is a Mo. County Map ~ http://geology.com/state-map/missouri.shtml ~ Here is Population Info on Mo. County's ~ http://oa.mo.gov/bp/pdffiles/totalpop2010.pdf ~ I like Shannon Co. for many reasons, spring feed rivers, Less roads and peeps. They also released Elk in that area. Lots of MDC and Mark Twain Nat. Forest. Land is around $1000 ~ $1500 an acre. How about You?

Ahhhhh....Shannon County is one of my favority places in the whole world. Alley Spring, Jacks Fork River, Current River. We usually camp and float there at least 1 time a year. Excellent choice! Buck up and get something with river frontage.

Thanks for the info lildrestl3. I have been there floating on the Current and Jacks Fork. It is a beautiful area. We will be building just inside the Lawrence county line, near Greene County. I work in Springfield as an ICU nurse, so I need to be fairly close for my commute to work. Lots of farm land around there. We just bought our second 10 ac. parcel in Lawrence county just outside of Greene County. We paid 38,000 for the 10 ac. An old oak barn, well, a few outbuildings were already there. The house was torn down. I would love to live further out, but I'm a long way from retiring. We raise a few horses and a few cows, but our passion is trail riding. we are 2-3 years from our build, but I am so anxious to get started. There is a good possibiltiy of a Memorial weekend class and I am keeping my fingers crossed. Also hope to get to Emminence this year for one of their famous trail rides.

Wow! I guess I completely missed this discussion! I grew up in Ozark, lived there until I went to college. I moved back to the area after college. Bounced around to several towns around the area. Then bought a house in Republic. Did a lot of trail riding with my family while I was growing up in Douglas and Ozark counties. Got rid of the horses when I went to college, couldn't take them with me. Just got my wife and kids into horses, bought 4, but stable fees are killing us. SO...I took the class on Memorial Day weekend and we are in the land search as well.

Rebecca, which hospital do you work for? My wife works in the OR at Cox.

I'm in Laclede Co., just a stones throw north of you. No build date, but just waiting on the right time. :-)
