I don't really know why we saddle our round corner notches. This seems like it could be a bit of a waste of time? Any thoughts?

Really? We don't!

yeah I tend to agree with you. doing saddle notches is very time consuming. I'd much rather build the LHBA way; no notching required and no settling to worry about:)

Save the saddles for the horses. I guess people like to do saddle notch so they can brag about how much time and energy went into building their home. Certainly not necessary when you can do the proven method of butt and pass instead.

I suspect he meant to say why do you NOT saddle your corners. Otherwise, this was kindof a dumb question.

I'm suspecting it's more like yelling "Go Navy" in a bar near Fort Hood.

It seems that lhn has veered into the truth... which is why I resisted making several caustic comments that would have been well deserved.
One that we (LHBA members) may understand is "Sit on an RSPL and spin".

;) _ maybe, but then let's assume he's not and as Peter said he just did a typo or mis-spoke.
Not sure if chasing of a newb is necessarily a good thing. And believe me - I know of a couple who felt they were and moved elsewhere.
Their skin remained thin and they didn't realize there is good underneath nearly all things despite what they thought they heard or did hear. :D
I suspect the mods will take care of things if need be...... that said you folks chased me off for a bit too.
Now I know it's mostly all bark and smaller bites:cool:

You know I'm waiting for anywhere but .... you know where. :(

I'm itching, ready, willing and .... well, Vegas will never happen with me...........
soon as I can I'll be there. You get the place buttoned up before the snow? If you now back home you saw maybe 3" last night, right? I blew the inlaws out off #4 and Valley View area and that was pure slop and laden with water...a good thing and desperately needed
I hope by your build area it's more or instead of trees we may have stumps in future and be growing cactus. So stinkin' dry ......

hey TW - you light on snow up yonder also ???

Yup. Very light snow year. Not that it's ever really stopped me, just slows me down a little.

Less is good for the builds but up around border the trees been so stressed the last few years it's spooky. I can see the BWCA and Voyageur NP folk saying .... come on up and look at our prairie in 10 years if things don't change. It's all cycles but .... I liked the old one we were on.

Loglover --
there is plenty of cambian layer underneath all of our bark....
don't worry about the bites. they're small.
-- sorry I couldn't resist.

Hows about I "kidnap" you for a weekend and fly you to a "remote area" where you can take the class.
I'll just lock you up at night for 2 nights then fly you home? :)

Just trying to get you to the other side. I think you'd be a great asset to us there.

great idea JD:) we gotta get Mr. Loglover to class:)
well, we managed to get the roof on the garage but garage is not weather tight yet. will work on that (garage doors, windows, service doors, CHINKING) this building season when the weather's too inclement to stack logs on the cabin:) Hang in there!
we did indeed see 3 inches of very wet and heavy (and slippery...) snow. but we're so eager to see anything covering all the gray and brown that we were happy to see it!!
I hope you join us soon:)
