Hello Everyone,

New member here. I'm a real estate agent in San Jose, Ca and looking to work out of the city and soon build a log home in Southern Oregon/Northern CA.

Looking at some of the student build photos, some mention the value in a log home. 10-30 k for land, 50k to build and the value of the property must be around $150-200,000. Seems like some profit to be made for anyone who enjoys craftsmanship and working with their hands.

Does anyone here enjoy building log homes so much they made a career/business out of buying land, building a home and selling the property?

It is being done successfully by more than one member but the site is geared toward the owner builder who wants to stay out of debt while building his/her own home with their own hands. 30 or 40 years of history have proven the LHBA style home to be easy to sell but 95% of them are sold after being lived in while the family who built them grows to maturity.

If you're wanting to build a log home here in Sunny Southern Oregon, check out "Homestead Log Homes" in Medford and then take the class and build a "real" log home of your own, like I am, and keep $200,000 in the bank for your old age.

If you decide to sell it and build another one, you'll have a bit more for your old age.
