Any other folks out there want LHBA to post some new student home pictures to the gallery? Not that I couldn't scroll through Pam's house pictures yet again, but let's see some new ones!
(How'd I do at the whole nagging thing? I learned at home from a Master.)

The "Snohomish log home" is one of the new homes on the site. There are some really interesting builds out there. I was astounded at how many things that I missed right before my eyes that I failed to see until after I took the class. I went back through all of them after I took the class.

A few of us have asked in past .... not sure what the deal is but it would indeed be nice to see more from last 2-5 years !

There are a lot of links to and posted pictures of both finished houses and buildings in progress over on the members side of the forum...

John almost nailed his impersonation of my son. A bit too wordy, but totally the right demanding tone :p
We actually have many homes featured that were built in the last couple years. And we'll add more in the future.
Jim and Pam got their Certificate of Occupancy in 2011 http://www.loghomebuilders.org/image-galleries/student-log-homes/snohomish-log-home
Brian and Kathy will get theirs in 2012. I hope to make it back there for pictures of their home when it's all done. http://www.loghomebuilders.org/image-galleries/lhba/oregon-home
Woodie and Robbie got their CO in 2010. http://www.loghomebuilders.org/image-galleries/student-log-homes/southern-wa-home
John and Corrina got their CO in 2010 iirc. I hope to get back up there soon for pictures of their finished home too http://www.loghomebuilders.org/image-galleries/student-log-homes/john-koenig-fishing-lodge
Jeff and Katie got their CO in 2010. Sold in 2011 iirc http://www.loghomebuilders.org/image-galleries/studentloghomes/california-log-cabin
CO in 2009 I think, and sold in 2010: http://www.loghomebuilders.org/image-galleries/studentloghomes/cheney-log-home
CO in 2009 / 2010: http://www.loghomebuilders.org/image-galleries/student-log-homes/la-pine-log-home
CO in 2009, just sold: http://www.loghomebuilders.org/image-galleries/student-log-homes/mosier-log-home
Et cetera.
We will have a new home posted in the gallery in the next week or two, but it was built in 1990. It's a great looking home, so I think folks will enjoy the pictures despite the fact it wasn't built yesterday ;)
FWIW, we have been working hard on the gallery for the last 6+ months, there's just no visible results of that work yet. I anticipate rolling out some changes to the gallery sometime in 2012.

Thanks Ellsworth! Will look at all the links you provided. And yes, I definitely look forward to the member side, mostly for info, but pics too.

Ellsworth,
Have you talked to bill lee about his home... ask about his boat as well...
Some nice homes here - Jim and Pam have the near twin to my vision. Anyone know if that's based off a stock plan that will be available after I can get the class done? They used trusses and I may too as it will speed the build up I've been told.
Cheers to all and hope the New Year brings happiness and fullfillment of dreams to everyone

I know Jim had some issues getting permitted for a 30x30, so it is like a 26x30 with a half loft. Yes, they used scissor trusses. the whole house is paneled in TnG, as Jim spent a large chunk of his life doing drywall and did not want to look at it now.
It is a beautiful home.

I've spoken to Bill a couple times over the last few years. He seems like a real nice guy, and he built a great log home. The home is actually a rental unit, and Bill understandably doesn't want to impose on his tenants. I think in the last 6 years he's gone through 2 tenants, and I was busy the week it was empty. Unfortunately our schedules just never seem to meet up.
There are some exterior shots in the gallery (pictures 15 through 18 in the "misc. homes" section).

Jim and Pam used the stock 30x30 plans. They had a draftsman make some changes (like switching from rafters to scissor trusses).
Thanks for info Ellsworth.....now to get me into the class. ;)

Ellsworth, do you know what size Bill's house is? It looks like a great example of 'build as small(and simple) as you can afford'. Although, it may be much larger than it appears in the pictures. I've found that to be true with all the LHBA homes I've visited, they are much bigger in person than the pictures make them appear!

I don't know the size. Probably around 25x25 ish, with a framed bump out dining area in front. This one felt like a smaller home, in part due to the shorter wall height and full second floor, but the scale felt appropriate imho.
