This is a little off topic, but falls under the heading of outbuildings we intend to construct at our place once the log home is complete.
We were just helping some folks at a nearby animal sanctuary recover after hurricane Wilma here in Florida. Nearly all of thier enclosures were blown away and apart - pieces parts and scared critters everywhere.
Learning as they go and anticipating worse hurricane seasons ahead, the owners now have an interest in building stronger enclosures - I get to help, AND practice building at no cost (they even have extra hands for 'luggn' and pounding).
The first project project is a 2 horse stall that will stand up to high winds while sitting in 'sugar sand'. The problem we saw down here is that people tend to use simple/open stalls. Even when posts are attached to well anchored concrete structures, many of these turned into kites during the last storm - with the entire assembly lifiting out of the sand and blowing away.
Any thoughts, plans (simple is better), tips, hints, suggestions, warnings, would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
John
