Can loblolly pine be used to make a decent log outbuilding?

I have two acres of mature loblolly that should be thinned. The local harvesters say the stand is too small for them to work with and I don't want to pay (can't afford) a tree service to do the work.

I would like a general purpose outbuilding for work/storing wood for rustic furniture/tools etc.

Is it reasonable to think that debarked loblolly logs will suffice for a log structure?

Dibs on the free logs. Chainsaw in hand, I'm on my way!!!! Seriously though, most definitely yes, you can absolutely build a structure with your loblolly. Just follow the Skip method, and you'll have an affordable, low maintenance structure that will last a very, very long time.

rreidnauer,

Thank you for taking the time to reply. I'll research the Skip method and begin looking for structure plans. Take care.
