Garrison Keillor's place or shall I say compound is on the market nearby - the 3 log homes were built in 1874 and 2 then combined to make the "shack" lol
Had a chance to see it and get inside Friday and it is sweet. The new part that ties the 2 old homes together is the coolest part bu they did a pretty nice job and the old feel is there even in this section. My fav is the stand alone log building that serves as the guest building.
While it's a Swede build and not a BnP it makes ya realize that your labor and time can reap some large rewards and will be a joy for generations to come to enjoy.
I'd be dumping the Summitt Ave place myself - unloading this to live in the city(s) seems crazy .... :(

His last line says it all. He values people more than places. I thought about doing what he did. Keep my city home and then have my house out on Winterwood too.

The odd part is this place is maybe 30 minutes from the east metro where his Summit home is- and less than an hour in rush hour from the heart of Minneapolis so it is not like they ever were remote or removed. He makes his living entertaining and has the 24x7 needs to be surrounded by people I guess but it's sure starnge as heck when you think about what he practices and preaches in his shows. I imagaine he is not that much different than any of us when it comes to costs and income today and he's now in the conserve mode.
Nice parcel and nice home and out building but very soft market.....shall be interesting to see what it sells for or if it sells I guess. Has loads of history and well known party in it today which will help.
Now if you had an idea what his Summit Ave place was like and the fact you can hold hands out the window with your neighbors ..... hmmmmmm. I dunno. Regardless I would make the drive. lol
