Hi all,
What did you think about this kind of trees to build log home?
We can build with it?
Thanks

Some great info here about different wood species and their strengths and weaknesses.

The Canadian Shield region tends to yield poor quality balsam (lots of heart rot). Most of the balsam where I am never reach suitable building size before the heart rots out and they blow down/die.
IF you had solid trees, it MAY be possible to build with Balsam, there is much discussion on using less than ideal species covered in class, as well as on the members side.

Im on the Appalachian, the Balsam Fir trees seem to be healty.
They are 12" and 40', this is correct size?
I have also Red Cedar, this is a better wood for log home?
Thanks
