Out of every week of the year it's this one.
Daughter's getting married .... I wonder if I can skip the wedding and hit thew class and remained married???!!!! lol
This is/will be the 3rd this year I believe. Medical thing before, now I'm begging and ready and ...... this really depresses me to be honest.
I'll assume this is it for this year? Another then in winter or ???

You never know.....I think earlier this year they added an extra class due to high demand....maybe if we're lucky they will add another in October or early Nov. I plan on signing up for Sept., and don't plan on looking back.....just trying to keep my hubby right alongside! Good luck, LogLover....hope to chat more soon!

one benefit to the Vegas venue, you don't have to trudge a half mile to Skips place in the rain. This can be treacherous as half of the walk was up a fairly steep hill. A hotel in Vegas has no seasonal issues... therefore, the guys can offer a course whenever they see a need and can accommodate.

Loglover, This one is a no-brainer. Spring a few extra dollars for a Vegas wedding. They're young and foolish and will love the idea!

if only I too was young and foolish and rich LHN - we already have $15K tied up in a non-refundable thing. No doubt they would have been tickled pink in doing so - matter of fact they are leaving for LV on Thursday for a short trip.
Can we start up a collection here and raise all 15 by class time. ;)

Yeah, tried to be funny with that name. Pet Peeve of mine...... when someone is checking plumb and they say "level"....so I thought I would combine the two. So what, are you saying your house is neither plumb, nor level? Doubt that....think I've seen some pretty good pictures of your place!

Where ya staying? For us at least, it seems to be running cheaper to leave on a Thurs. and stay 4 nights as opposed to leaving on FRI and staying three...go figure?!

Probably staying at Harrah's. Already booked the flights, so switching to Thursday arrival is unfortunately out of the question. Harrah's has 3 nights at 95+135+90. add tax and 44 for the buffet and it totals 407. Might have a friend going also, and we would split the room.
found some other places within a 1/4 to 1/2 mile for 275 to 300, but no buffet, and no room right upstairs....places were summer bay; casino royale; and imperial.
What kind of deals did you find and where you staying?

We haven't totally decided where exactly where we are staying as of yet...but booking our flights with the room as a package is turning out to be the way to go...( for the wife and I) we have found a few around $6oo for 4 nights-tax included. Probably staying at Imperial which is right next door to Harrahs...nice since it's going to be HOT. Thankfully I have a friend who lives in LV that said he would pick us up at the airport so we don't have to deal with the Taxi headache :)

Embassy suites is pretty close to airport and not far from Harrahs.. prepaid lowest rate was $99 + tax, buffet breakfast included... standard rate was about 109. Harrahs is pretty good deal too on price... I'm still looking this weekend.
Flight is done, let me know if you find a better hotel deal, and I'll see you there.

Hello to all... Newb'n it up with the most of you. I sure think it's strange how the path you choose is far less important than the path that chooses you. I recently backed out of a tract home deal on a nice lot. Would've been nice but it seemed like it was their house in the end. No changes or deviations whatsoever. PERIOD... Oh, I already said that. Financing appliances, cabinets, flooring, etc.. (All things I CAN do) with the calculated interest rate raises the price over 2 1/2 times the cost on a 30 year term. I started thinking about ways to save money and do something, anything, on my own. In the end, I even got my $500.00 earnest money back. That was almost enough to pay for the class that I can't wait to get to. I've been reading some posts and see I'm not the only one from the Austin area going to Vegas. Shucks, maybe we can saddle up the ponies and start our cattle a'movin to blaze a trail out west. I swear everone thinks we ride horses in TX. I will admit that we say ya'll and fixin' to.... So ya'll better look out cuz we're fixin' to stop wiggling on the branch of forever and start flapping our new found wings to freedom. (please tell me someone gets the reference)

For all of those that bring you down and tell you that you're not being realistic and your dreams are too ambitious... I say... You laugh because I'm different and I laugh because you're all the same! I've been dealing with a tremendous amount of "really" when I mention my plan to build with these hands of mine. I get worked up on the idea of all of it and then get defeated in the same thought. When that happens......
I love to remember that people have forgotten that not too long ago we had house raising parties not house warming parties. I like to think about the days when people actually had to take care of themselves. We're so detached from real ways of living that we'd rather leave it up to someone else to make our situation better vs. doing a little work.
I want to thank everyone on this site that has helped me see what it is in life that matters most, to me. I haven't even been to the class and I can already see that the biggest impact Skip had on peoples lives came in the form of self awareness, confidence, and transformation. God bless you Skip!
Not sure of the need for the rant but I feel better... Ahhhhh!

I've been doing a lot of dreaming. Can't wait for the class. I for one am glad it's in Vegas. The plane fair is cheaper and easy many flights. Especially on a holiday. Cheap food and great entertainment. I am a nature lover but isn't vacation about getting away from the norm? Planning to start a home in Northern Georgia in the spring this class is just in time!!!!!!!!!
Looking forward to making new friends

Been doing a bit of research on living in the Philippines. His influence has gone past this continent. My mother is in an assisted living facility owned and operated by a network of Filipinos. Even they knew about Skips resort in Cebu.

Look out Vegas... Here we come! I've been waiting very patiently for this weekend to come and too excited to focus. I have land that just happened to be given to me just after I paid for the class... How convenient, right? I couldn't have asked for a better 10 acres. I don't have the trees to build with but I have extremely fertile soil, spring water under the property, and enough room to stretch my legs a bit, so to speak. All this, and my daily commute is around 20 mins. Ahhhhhh... The american dream for me might just be attainable still. If we could actually own it free and clear... That would be the only icing i'd put on this cake.

We had a lot of really good questions being asked, but maybe a couple of "what iffers" in there. I found that if you just jot your question down, and wait 10 minutes.....the instructors will answer 90% of your questions within that next 10 minutes. The other 10% will be answered by the end of the class.
Ellsworth and Steve did a great job keeping the class flowing and explaining everything. Well worth the money.

I was "what if" for sure. It got to the point where every time I'd raise my hand (I am polite) Skip would just point to me and say "We cover that in the next chapter".
