I think it would be more accurate to say "so logs CAN only cost $.50...? Every situation is different. Relationships forged and opportunities well placed in life dictate all these prices. I got a $20,000 brand new kitchen for my cabin. All that was necessary was to get it out of the way of the home owner that did not like it. The kitchen is two years old. My logs were free, but only because I knew how to ask. the class taught me a lot of things and these are just a few. I am very thankful for these groups of people in LHBA.

A friend of mine is a tree cutter. Told him I may want to talk to him after the June class. Attended a seminar in another city a couple weeks ago and mentioned over lunch about the class. Another attendee gave me her email address and told me she'd come work with me for food and shelter to have the experience. Maybe you really can get free help!

I've come across several ads asking for someone to clear the land just to take the logs. And I've had several people/friends offer their services. One in particular is a high school shop teacher. Does it all.

Wow! That's incredible! Where do you find these ads? Granted you are in GA, and I am across the country, but may give me ideas where to start looking!

I've seen them on Craigslist. Here's an example from March 2011 that's in my area. "I have a little over 2 acres mostly pine tress some oak good size to be taken to the mill , just want them down and out the way. You can have them for free." Saw an ad a couple of months age that wanted 50 acres cleared. He gets the land cleared, you keep the trees.
