I live in Spain. Does anyone know if logs react the same way in the Spanish climate as they do in the USA. I was told, just yesterday, (by a 30 years in the log home building, "expert" ;) ) that logs won't behave here as they do elsewhere, I.E. logs will settle, and or crack, and even subside, due to our high summer humidity. I can't see it! But what do I know¿ :o

Members in the US have certainly built in areas with high (100%) summer humidty levels. It likely can be done, but attention to details and care with log treatment and preventative maintanence will go along way to help preserve the logs.

Monroe, where the LHBA was founded, is in the Pacific NW, it's practically rainforest. It rains sideways sometimes. The houses there certainly survive.

Probably more of an issue would be insects, if those are an issue in Spain, but that too can be overcome.
