Hi
One of the big home retailers has sale on 22' werner 300 pounds multi-function ladder.
I like the idea of flexibilty and mainly reduced storage space.
Do you have any expirience with these pros vs cons, are these safe.
I don't like hights so i don't think i will be using it a lot most likely from couple to few times per year.
Thank you.

I've had one for years. I like it. Heavy though.

I was using one when helping at someone else's build. I too found it very handy, but as mentioned, they are on the heavy side. It was nice to have it opened up into a straight ladder, and as we added another log course, we could just extend another rung length. I'd say they are very safe. (let's face it, with lawsuits the way they are these days, you won't have a brand name manufacturer selling shoddy ladders, at least not for very long)

It's a good one. Have 1. The Little Giants are a bit stronger but even heavier and cost a lot more $$$$$ - got 2 of these buggers and I have beat them to death for years. Not sure if they worth that premium either.
CL and pawn shops - always for sale there and likely another 50% discount from the big box retailer too

I have one. It may be the 17'er. The most important thing is taking the ladder apart and using the two ladders as a short scaffolding with a 2 by 12 between the two pieces. It great because you can move the board up 4 or five rungs The top is about 5 feet so you can get to all the first story stuff about 8 feet at a time. We used it while constructing the green house... see below.

Agree with everything said. I have the Little Giant 22footer. It is heavy, but a nice ladder. Probably not much heavier, if at all, than a 22 foot regular extension ladder. It is just that they fold down so small, that I think it should weigh less.

One rumor going around is that they are unsafe when used as an extension ladder. Because of that joint in the middle, they do have just a little bit of movement. The problem is, the guys suing the ladder company....they put the ladder up on the gutter, and then the last step they take on the ladder is ABOVE THE GUTTER LINE! Well, what do you think is going to happen? That weight above the gutter line is going to cause the bottom to try to kick out, and causes that little bit of flex at the middle joint to move back out. I've watched them try to prove their case on youtube.

I've found those ladders to be very safe, and agree with rocklock that the scaffolding option is about the most functional.

The only warning label most products should have is "STUPIDITY AND THE LACK OF COMMON SENSE MAY CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY AND MAYBE DEATH. YOUR STUPIDITY OR LACK OF COMMON SENSE WILL BE FOUGHT VIGOROUSLY IN A COURT OF LAW."
