I have read everything I can read on here in last 6-9 months and have learned quite a bit, the amount of new posts is so small in this forum that I am chomping at the bit to get to the member's side to get some real "meat & potatos"! Jan. 15th can't come soon enough!

I loved those teasers before I took the class! I did read the members forum 2-4 hours a day after taking the class. Still average 3 hours a week ;)

there is nothing like the site of a huge log dangling from a lifting strap 25ft in the air. LOL.. and what about the kooky way we end up lifting our 24ft long 4x12 rafters?? : ))))

Yep...those are teasers alright! Can't wait to see what all is over there on the member's side! I found some info on another website that referenced a lot of LHBA material last night. These folks had taken the class back in 2001 (I think) I was kinda shocked at was was on there since it seems everything is "top secret" and there are rules against that. But they were true to form in urging folks to "take the class". They told quite a bit about the class and notes they had taken in class, tool lists, etc. I'm sure you "old-timers" have probably already seen it though. It looked like good info and got me fired up even more. We will probably start looking at land as soon as we get done with the class. I've been land searching for months on the internet, but waiting until after the class to actually go look. I don't want to get attached to a piece of land only to find out after the class it wouldn't be the right buy. We hope to find 100+ acres on which to construct our dream home. Ah...anticipation!

It's so much fun to watch and read the comments of those waiting for the class to start. I remember it all too well. The real fun starts after you return home and no longer have to explain why you're spending so much time on the internet. The member's only side is where the fun starts.
PS: So there's no misunderstanding, the Bankers hair wasn't that color when she met Ron.

Take a lot of notes! The class is great and it will get you even more motivated to build a log home!
You will be amazed at what you will learn in the "Members" forums.

Well, only 16 more days until we leave for the class! Tick...Tock. Does the clock slow down the closer the date gets?!

It's like anything else of great want, time tends to slow to a snails pace. Then when the class starts, sharply at 9:00 (If I remember correctly) Time tends to speed up by a factor of 12. For the next two days, you want 72 hour days. There just doesn't seem to be enough time with so many questions you have. Then the class ends. By the time you go to sleep, you've thought of another thousand questions. Once you get on to the "Member's Only" side, that is when and where the rest will fall into place. That is where all the rest of your questions will get answered. It doesn't matter what the subject is if it's about building a home with real logs. You can't imagine what level of knowledge our family has. I look forward to getting to know you on the other side.
The excitement is about killing you about now isn't it? Hang in there, please buckle up.

brother Ed is RIGHT. on the members side is where you will be taught 12 different ways to wrestle a log into place. learn how to pound n peel with the least amount of pain. and make iron skillet corn bread!!! how bout some more teaser pics....

Lookin' good! I guess those notches I see in the logs are for the floor joist? Hmmm...I guess I need to add a good chisel set to the list!

Don't go buyin' 300$ chisels yet!
you may want to use log girders to support your whole 2nd floor. That's what I'm doing, and it saved doing notches and having lots of iron brackets fabricated.
Ramblin- I never heard 'bout any iron skillet corn bread...

the notches are work..but i kinda like em cuz its old school. i had brackets made pretty cheap. but decided to go this route cuz i needed somewhere to hide the notes im leaving for the sorry sucker thats gonna try to pull this thing apart in a couple hundred years : )

Hard to believe it's almost time for class. We'll be packing up tomorrow night and get into Vegas around lunch time Friday. We'll kick around town the rest of the day and then be ready for Sat morning. We are really looking forward to a great experience so many of you have raved about. We look forward to meeting everyone there. We pray for safe travel to everyone coming! See ya there...and when we get back...we'll see ya on "the other side"!
