Can you build one of these homes in East Texas? We are surrounded by pine trees but Don't know how they would stand up to the heat and humidity of the Texas summer? We Moved back to Texas after spending a few years Whidbey Island and I notice most of the people here seem to be from the NorthWest, Is that because the climate is better suited for this?

There are a number of LHBA members in East Texas. They will chime in as they see your post. How large and how numerous are the trees on your property. Most any size log "can" be used for your LHBA home but larger logs mean more mass to help combat your climate. As you survey your wood lot what diameter trees would you like to build with as measured at breast height?
The real question is why didn't you get addicted to us when you were on Whidbey Island?

thanks for the reply. I did not buy the land yet we live in Houston but I have found some good deals around the Tyler Area which is in the Piney woods of Texas basically. I did not know anything about this nor was I even considering building my own house when I was up on Whidbey...I guess its been about ten years since Iwas up there but Im getting tired of this whole Mortgage thing and would like to actually own something!
Thanks

I like to drink as well but , I don't see what the cow has to do with anything? Maybe you should have less or I should have more.
