Hello, I'm new here and wonder if anyone could tell me how much it might be to build a log house in BC if I need to buy logs and the house is roughly 20x30.
Thanks

The question you ask is a lot like asking how big is a ball of string. It depends. I have built small log structures on hippie budget spending less than no money. It takes a lot of scrounging and sometimes it ain't a pretty process or product. The real answer from this forum will be that most of us are living proof that a person like you can build a very strong, secure, legal, valuable, and cool log home without a 30 year mortgage. I am and it is the most talked about house in the neighborhood.

Mudge, I asked the same question a while back, you may want to look at this tread.

If you are good at finding good deals and picking up materials for free, then you can build one for very cheap. I shop on craigslist, flee markets, old barns, ect. to find my deals. I found a 36" exterior door at the dump with one small dent in it for free! Fixed the dent painted it up (already had paint) and looks like a new one! I ran into a guy the other day that had 8 sheet s of 1/2" sheet rock left over from a job, he just wanted to get rid of it. I got it for free! Its all about time or money, pick one!

for my terse response, but this topic is far too common. the thread above is a good start, then take the class, and you can start a budget. There is a good budgeting spreadsheet made by a member for members in the member's side, the short answer is it will cost somewhere between 10k and 400k, depending on how good you are at sourcing materials and help.
