My wife and I have decided that buying a piece of land and build a log cabin is for us. So now we are doing our research and luckily came across this website. We will not be able to make the Boston class but are looking forward to taking one.
My question is that I just happen to come across someone selling logs in my area:
They are pine and some red pine, flat cut on oth sides.
160+ 8' (10"-13" diameter)
50: 10-30' logs
It seems like a really good deal and since we have already decided to build a house, we didn't want a great opportunity to pass by. We are not planning on building a very large cabin but for <$5000 it seems a bargin.
Anyone have any thoughts?

Don't buy logs before you take the class. Those logs are not for this style of building.

You 'll see only round logs. Read all the articles on the forum.
It would turn out to be expensive fire wood if you buy them. Best thing is to do nothing (buying/building etc.) until you take the class. And that is just to save you a lot of money and time.
