I was wondering about what is recommended on dealing with logs that are uneven in diameter and length. When you have a short log that does not get to the end of your corner, do you just start another one with out cutting for and overlap and when you stack logs up that way with uneven diameter it seems that some cutting to match diameter size however then you will be exsposing your grains, again what is recommended?
Thanks

but you could go with vertical log construction, piece en piece or even mill to a constant thickness... there are caveats to all of these which you can learn in class and the member's side.

I would love to take the class however that is not a option right know.Dont want to mill them. How big of a space is to big to chink in between logs? Not sure of a vertical construction? Thanks

Take some free advice from a worn out old man. Find a way to take the class. You are asking questions who's answers naturally lead to more questions. The answers are in the class. I took it 20 years ago.

You're opening ten questions for every one you ask.
Find any way possible to take the class now while you are young. It's terrible to have all the answers and then be too old for your body to provide the answer. It's great when an old man builds a cost-effective log home and ends-up without a mortgage, but it's much better when that happens to a young man and he saves paying on a house for many years of his life.

G'pa, imo, you hit the nail on the head with that one, being young, i cannot wait to take the class and have it change my life.
