My father Francis Lee Smith was the creator/builder of the Smith Mansion, located in Wapiti Valley WY. It is a must see. It has become a huge tourist attraction during the summer months and has been for years.
People traveling to and from the East Gate of Yellowstone stumble upon it and are so curious about the crazy house. I am Smith's daughter, last surviving owner and would like to do something with it.

I have started a web page to give info on the mansion and also to let the public know that it is private property. The vandalism is a huge problem.

Hopefully, in time I can do something with it. Who knows? My only concern is the preservation of the house and also to answer the publics questions about it. Many people and news articles have been written about the well known house. It is a very unique log home.

stop by and sign our guestbook. Just trying to get the word out to the public.

Is that the one that took a long time to finish? Its several stories if i remember..Is it done now?
The place is about 20 miles outside of Cody WY.
The locals and City dont like it...took years to build..looks as though it was never finished.
I think its different...

Ha, that guy must have a brother or cousin here in Tennessee that built the worlds tallest treehouse.

I have several concerns or impressions...
Because of its construction, only a fence or wall will prevent someone just walking away with stuff...
Preservation... Much of the "home" lacks a roof, hence depending on the construction materials rot will happen. Decisions need to be made about what to preserve and what can not. In other words, there needs to be a plan...

I would not use the word unique... My log home is not unique... but it is paid for and mine. It will last long after my grand kids - grand kids sell this sucker...

I have seen several unique homes. Scotty's Castle (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scotty's_Castle) in California built of bottles, The underground Gardens in Fresno California http://www.undergroundgardens.com/), and several rock homes in and around Tucson Arizona built one bag of concrete at a time.

Good luck with your project...
