Hey all!
I know it's pretty late to be askin' this, but funds are tight, so why not? I'm flying in for the class this weekend and was wonderin' if any of my classmates might be looking for a carpool buddy to share expenses. I get into SEA at 10am Friday and fly out at 7pm Monday. Also, I'm staying at the Stevens Pass Motel in Gold Bar. Anyone want some company for the drive and extra cash?
Can't wait for this weekend!

I took the class recently and spent two days in Seattle to do the tourist thing. If you take public transportation into Seattle ($1.50, bus route 194?) you can save a lot on car rental. The clerk at budget said it was 1/3 the cost of an airport rental. I had a new Ford Escort (162 miles on it) for three days and it cost me less than $80. It would probably have been cheaper if I used priceline.com or booked it a day earlier. Just thought I'd throw that out there...

Try entreprise. I got 3 days for 76 bucks. Excellent deal and the car actually worked :)
Good luck.

Great suggestions - thanks! I'll give it whirl... just hope they'll take my debit card (credit is evil).

Dave Ramsey listener?
:)
I've noticed alot of car rental bookings online don't even need a card#, so you should be good to go to pay with debit or cash when you arrive. (double check first of course).
Have fun at the class!

Bring ear plugs, and warm sleeping bag... I just stayed there for the January 09 class. That is the main hangout for all locals Friday and Saturday night. There is a bar on the first floor, and a little cafe on the first floor. Plus Karaoke is Saturday night and it is extremely loud. At least they stopped by 2:30am Sunday morning.
The other thing was that my room had a thermostat on the wall, but that was it just a thermostat, it wasn't wired to anything. No heat!
Glad I travel with my GI extreme weather sleeping system.
It saved me from freezing, except for the getting out of the shower wet and freezing...
I would suggest another place. But that is me...
I would have just slept in the rental car or a tent on an empty lot if I would have known there were so many open spaces... Like use a vacant lot that is for sale... :) There is a camp ground right around the corner from the class too.
At least the class was awesome. That made up for the other...
Oh yea... I used thrifty "airport off site" it was $14/day. They have a shuttle service every few minutes from the airport. I used my debit card (credit card is evil). Be prepared for a "temporary hold" for around $200.
Take care, have fun and stay warm.
