Cob construction and log homes

Is anyone familiar with cob houses? The old 3' thick walled cottages (usually with a thatched roof) that you see in old english villages. I love the look of a free formed wall, and envision some sort of mixture with logs and cob construction. Maybe I'm thinking more along the lines of Timber framing? My first love is log homes, but I've recently read on cobs and the fact that its fairly easy to do. Any suggestions?
