This summer, I build an earthbag house. It is made with poly bags filled with mud, tamped down, with 2 strands of barbed wire between each row. In some respects, it was like a log home. For the roof, I am putting on the same roof I would put on the log home.
At the time I built, I had no access to affordable logs. Now that the earthbag home is nearly done, I have access to all the logs I want at $4 per linear foot.
I may build my log home next year, but first I want to finish this one. Surprisingly, the inside space is almost identical to the layout I had for my log home.
The house is round with a 37' inside diameter. It is one story plus 3' wall on the second floor and will have a metal roof with a 7 in 12 pitch. I also used some logs in the construction. See the pic.
