I have tried to find round logs for sale in the south east for my Florida homesite but cannot find anyone selling un-milled logs. Advice?

Have you tried the sawmills? If so, get the names of some of their loggers and work from there. Since the loggers know the owners of the sawmills, they can be a wealth of info on sourcing logs. Good luck!

I googled it but did not find any in the southeast region.

Gabriel, have you taken the LHBA class? If you're a member, this is covered in much more detail in the 'members only section' of the site. I live in middle GA and have had no problem finding logs, I imagine at least N. FL shouldn't be much different. If you haven't taken the class, I would recommend not even worrying about logs right now- ya gotta learn what to do with them first.

Gabriel,

Where do you live? My wife and I have been through the class and we live in Pensacola. We think we have found our land and are in the process of getting it bought.

I wasn't talking about googling for sawmills, I was talking about GOING to the sawmills. If you don't know where any are, try the yellow pages, go to building supply stores (local ones, not big box) and ask, there are frequently places called "wood products" places that will at least be able to tell you where sawmills are. You have to pound the pavement a little bit.

The hills around Ocala if I recall correctly appear to be covered in pine. I might do a little looking around when I'm down in Sarasota over Christmas.

The class will cover ways for you to get logs and at different costs. I'd wait till after you take the class (its only a week away) and then use the ideas they'll teach you to try and obtain logs.

Have fun at the class!

Look, listen and learn
A man who works with his hands is a laborer,
A man who works with his hands and his head is a craftsman,
A man who works with his hands, his head and his heart is an artist.
St Francis of Assisi.

Wait till the class is over and then things are alittle more easy to do and understand.

I put an ad on every Craigslist within 300 miles and found my logs.

What part of the country did you do that in?
