We currently live in Southern California. We've been dreaming of attending this class for over a year.
We are now also considering relocating to New Zealand and setting up a self-sufficient lifestyle there.
If, God willing, we can attend the next class , and then move to New Zealand in late 2009, how would we build it there?

New Zealand has a forestry/logging/lumber industry. That much I know.

Does anyone reading this live (presently or formerly) in NZ?

How would I go about finding out more about doing this?

Would all the procedures described in the class be the same? Would the costs be any different?

Thanks.

Jenny

Hey,

I lived in NZ in 2003. I don't know much about their building industry. However I do know that in the 1970's there was a fad there to plant pine trees, in time they realized that the cash from such a venture would not pan out. There are quite a few groves of pines in the North Island. Not so much that I saw in the South Island. If my memory serves me correctly there is a NZ logger on the Forestry Forum. See if you can look on there and find him. He could tell you a bunch I am sure.

Kiwi's are the nicest folks I have ever been around. Hope you make it over there to build your log home.

vary widely from place to place and time to time. I have been quoted $70/log, and $600/log. The process will be exactly the same.

Enjoy.
