View Full Version : Cabin Grade Logs
We really like the rustic and imperfect look of the cabin grade logs. I have just started trying to find someone who sells these logs and am having trouble locating people who sell these. Does anyone know where to get this type of log?

I cut my logs from my property.
Some people purchase them from loggers.
Some buy them from retail places.
Some buy them from sawmills.
Point is - Whatever works for you.

I put an ad on Craigslist asking for logs to build a family home. I said I was willing to pay market price for the right logs. I have just recently made a handshake deal for 50 Ponderosa Pine (16"-24" but diameter) wall logs and 50 Lodgepole Pine rafter logs. I have to thin and clear 50 acres to pay for them. The possibilities are endless.

Timber companies sell logs. Kit builders sell timbers. ; ) You won't find many 'log home companies' selling logs like these because these companies chop them up into smaller, more manageable pieces, in the process destroying the character of the trees. There are a few 'handcraft' log companies that might sell logs, but they're likely more than you will pay if you do a little legwork. The class covers this in more detail....
