Went to Tacoma today. Bought (yes, I really paid $$ but the price was just too good to pass-up, plus,
I need this type of insulation for the radiant heat floors) forty sheets of PolyIso insulation. Not enough material to merit using my big truck, so I took the VW diesel. Much of the way from Tacoma to Wenatchee people were taking pictures of me when they drove past!
They were smiling and waving... wonder why....

Of course I have more images of the truck. This was unusual even by my
standards.

Rick, did you buy the VW truck new in Wenatchee? My dad owned the dealership about that time.

Got it near Spokane.
Saw the truck and was talking with the owner.
He called several weeks later and said he was going to sell. Couldn't pass it up.
It had about 35,000 miles on a rolling rebuild. My best mileage has been about
51 1/2 mpg. I average about 46 mpg on the highway. I'm sure the fuel economy
is much worse with that big rack and insulation.
I've had the truck about 12 months. Love it, but it's not a truck someone the size
of Ellsworth would use on a trip from Washington to Florida. It's almost too small
for me. Someone less than 5' 6" and 125 pounds might have enough room, but I
find myself stopping to stretch my legs.

Congrats on the score.

Ever see a?pallet recycle p/u truck?? Those guys put something like 4 stacks of pallets, 15' high, on the back of a standard cab p/u.?? I doubt they have a problem with tailgaters ;)

Haven't seen the pallet trucks but I can only imagine.
If any members want some PolyIso board I can get it
for $11 -$15 sheet (depends on the price of diesel and
the distance to cart it).

Bet you probably can't get over 35 MPH floored with a headwind! ;-)

Holy Sheepdip..thats belongs on the cover of Mother Earth Magazine!

and btw, they were snapping pics of you because they recognized the famous LHBA'er Rick Buchanan. Most of those camera folks were papparazzis. (sp?)

I used to play this game with loading haybales on my F150. Each trip I would add abit more and the rancher would just shake his head at me as I drove off. I got all kinds of looks going down the road too. I finally overloaded er' and broke a leafspring.

Honestly, That is a very cool place you got, and the view is fantastic. I love it, man.

Watch out for those side winds. If you catch a good rear wind you just might be able to be able to sail that thing home.

Sweet! Haha, you're another LHBA member I'm adding the the list of "folks I'd like to meet one day because they seem to be quite interesting" :)
Boy that list is getting long these days (That's a good thing)

Managed to hit 48 mph but wasn't too comfortable. A dip in the road, or a side wind was
nothing short of an E-ticket at Disneyland. Tried to keep it at forty most of the way but
hills and winds sometimes held me to only twenty five.

I saw a guy almost backwards on a motorcycle...he just couldn't believe what he was seeing.
But the good news is that I (somehow) made it home safely, and I have about six sheets more
than I need to complete the building. I can use the extra sheets for insulating the heating pipes,
and my five gallon "straw box" cooker. Should do well keeping my sun heated, hot water overnight.

Hi Kola,

Have some pics on a separate site.

The link is under:

Member's forum, then: list of members log home web sites.
Go to page two, and the post with the address is about seven posts from the bottom.

A handful of photos. Listed them in the members section to inhibit a few stalkers.
