Hi my name is Julianne lopez and I wonder if there regulations on building log homes with in city limits of upper lake county Indiana?
I do not have the ammount to build own or construct my own living space yet. I do hope to do so before the age of 50. For now I am a student for the International Academy of Design and Technology, and have no knowlage for log home building or design for any livable stucture.
I just have great intrests in log homes since I do like to fish and enjoy the great out doors.

I can't answer the question specifically, but I can tell you the method of construction taught by LHBA far exceeds minimum building code specifications. The challenge is convincing the local building department which may be ignorant/unfamiliar with this style of construction. Some departments are very open to new methods not seen before, others are hard-headed and impossible to work with.
Best advice: go discuss it with them, in person, and feel them out.
Also, I don't know how much research you've done on log homes so far, but I believe if you spend some time reading through the threads and the website, you'll gain an enormous amount of knowledge on the subject.
Don't be a stranger. If you got questions you didn't find answers for, fire away.

I am buidling in LA and just about have my land squared away. The building and safety people so far have not been jerks about anything but really, the issue is that one person tells you one thing and another one quite different thing. Who are you supposed to believe? My rule of thumb is simple: it is a lot easier to apologize than ask for permission.
