Has any one here, ever shoped at a habitat for humanity Re-store?
I have two with in twenty miles of where I live and they are a great place to get supplies. From 4x4 wall tile .25 cents each to 16x16 floor tile .75 cents each. They have SOLID wood doors for $50, and even windows. Each place has different materials donated from Lowes, Homedepot, hotels, and remodles. Lights, furnature, tubs, tolets, they have most of it all.

Me and a co worker recently descovered the restore. We both work at the lowes distribution center in CT. We were joking about if we like a lighting unit (oops) good deal at the restore next week, just needs a new glass cover.lol We wouldn't do such a thing, but we do stop by (damaged goods area) periodicly to see what is going to the re store.

Just picked up a 60"w x 80"h set of Pella exterior french doors - w/jam and double screen doors included for $200 !!!! That's insane! Another plug for Habitat RE - stores .... run by volunteers, proceeds go toward their next project house. Will be getting much from them, I suspect. Large selection of windows and doors - some used, some new.... good stuff! If you haven't checked one out yet, you should at least stop by and browse one time ... never know what will turn up!

I've driven by a few and only stopped at one. I wasn't hugely impressed but maybe it was just that store that day that didn't have much. It seemed to be mostly used stuff and outdated bathtubs, toilets and sinks. I did see one decorative window that would have been nice but we were in the middle of a move and would have had nowhere to put it. I keep meaning to stop at the one I pass on the way home from work, it's a great idea!

The Re-Stores are highly dependent upon where they are.

The one near my parents doesn't have much quality stuff in it, but the one near me has a TON of good stuff. I know of one member (maybe he'll chime in here) who bought ALL of his windows from the Re-Store out his way, for a total of what one good window would cost from a Lowes or Home Depot.

Definitely high on my list of places to shop.

Very hit or miss. We got all our outdoor lighting for the house there for $5 per fixture, they matched the style we wanted and even matched the color of our trim. You can get great bargains, but you can go for months and not see anything of interest too.

I was in a restore today and another last week - they have lots of good stuff depending on location. A good place for old wood (read: real, solid wood) doors for cheap.

I bought this new, never used, cast iron bath sink for 5 bucks. Then using a router and some other saws, I turned this log slab (which I found on the side of the road) into a log pedestal sink top :-) (Only cost me 5 bucks so far, I still need to stain and bar-top epoxy though)
