My family has a 1920's built adirondack style log home. It is in need of foundation
repair. We are looking for someone in the midwest. The Structure seems to rest on the ground in some areas. Lower log would need to be replaced. Help. We seem to be unable to find anyone who has done this type of repair before.

Nancy;
Our forum consists generally of individuals that want to build, not repair log homes... See the student built log homes...
I have seen pictures of this kind of repair in seattle. The basic idea is to jack up the good parts (almost always more that one log needs to be replaced), excavate for a foundation. Pour foundation. I would not stack rocks for a foundation if I am going to all of this expense. It would be much easer to hide the fact that I have a modern concrete and steel foundation. Build logs on top of foundation that will match the logs that are removed. Make some system of attaching the two different ages of logs allowing for shrinkage as needed... Then pray that you haven't forgotten something, and lower the old logs on top of the new...
It ain't cheap... in fact, the repair job in Seattle cost way more than just building a new building...
good luck
