I missed this when it was showing week to week, but they had a marathon of all the shows on yesterday. Got em all on DVR and have made it about half way thru. Of course this is a "kit", but it was interesting and gave me a few ideas for my own B&P log home. It must be nice to build on an unlimited budget....... The area it's in (Townsend, Tn) is very beautiful. I've vacationed there many times when visiting the Smoky Mountains National Park.

I think the best thing about watching the show was knowing the real scoop as they explained settling, slip joints and gaps above windows and doors. Of course they down played it as normal for log home construction. A couple years ago I would have been oblivous, but not after the class.

Thanks to the LHBA for educating people on the better way!

I recall watching a man and woman team build a rather huge kit log home on TV series several years ago. (can't recall the show name, but it was well before I knew the truth about log home construction and the Trading Spaces and following spinoffs craze) They were a funny pair, often making mistakes on measuring, and missing the nail and smacking trimwork, but I'll give them credit, they'd broadcast it instead of reshooting the scene. One that really sticks in my head was when they built a gazebo using a faulty level! Watching them do wiring was painful for someone like me who use to be a professional electrician. Anyhow, they pointed out all the necessary steps for dealing with settling and water protection, and that was about all that I needed to see to steer me away from log homes. Then there was the price. Like you said Jeff, must be nice building on an unlimited budget.

Thank goodness I stumbled upon LHBA, else my dream of a log home would never have been within reach.

I knew Blog Cabin was coming up, but it didn't grab my interest much considering my earlier viewing, and it looks like it played out about the same.

I've watched some of that show. It seems like they are simply advertising the personalities of the other DIY hosts rather than doing anything to teach the viewer about building a log cabin. It's fun but there's not much meat on that bone...

I started watching that show.....at least the 1st 3 episodes. Found it frustrating because they spent more time talking about the "blog" this and "blog" that. Not really much real meat to the show....at least not from the perspective that you would actually learn anything of any real value in relation to the time wasted watching this stupidity. The log cabin they built on 'Home Time' a few years back was a heck of a lot more informative. Wish they would do a rerun on that show rathur than this "blog" crappola.

I started to watch the Blog Cabin with the intent of video capturing it, then editing out the crap content and putting all the informative stuff into one DVD for personal reference. But each episode yielded about 5 minutes of actual 'how-to', so I scrapped all of it.
