Red Pines

we have 100 red pine trees on our property in southern vermont and would like to know if anyone has used red pines in log home construction. How do they hold up in log home construction? what diameter logs are needed? and, What is the thermal rating?

I am planning to use red pine, should be here in a week or so.
Mine average 12" diameter.

I think red pine is a bit harder then yellow or white pine from what I can remember.

Red pine is what I'm using. It works just fine. When you take the class all the spcs for the different species are provided in workbook.

Just used 1/2" dowels & it's based on the plans we are currently building.
