Hi folks,
We've recently added a new rule (#31) to the forum guidelines and terms of service (http://www.loghomebuilders.org/forum-guidelines.htm) regarding hotlinking graphics.
Everyone is free to hotlink pictures, smileys, icons, etc., from around the web, so long as they don't violate the author's copyright. However, the graphics should be copied over to Photobucket or another similar site that explicitly allows hotlinking in their terms of service. In addition, the graphic must be hosted on a account that you personally control.
The issue (and fear) is that if you hotlink publicly-available graphics from another site, at some point in the future that site could shut down, or worse, they could replace the graphic with something else that would instantly show up in your posts here (like an advertisement).
If none of that makes sense to you, then you probably have nothing to worry about. ;)
