Hi All,
Stumbled upon this flooring idea and wonder what y'all think. I am thinking it could be used on top of 2x6 flooring in wet areas like bathrooms as a cheap substitute for tile. Hopefully painted much nicer than this outdated style.

TIA for your thoughts.

Ahhhh.. My eyes!
Interesting idea. I think if painted right it would look good. The only thing that would worry me is if it might leave a seam where you put the two pieces of tar paper together.
Maybe you could get a bunch of free broken tiles and make a mosaic out of them. I was looking at these cool pebble floors the other day. If you just lived near a stream with a bunch of flat rocks... :-)

90 lb felt, eh? That's definitely another way to use it I suppose. Funny thing of it. He uses all roofing materials, but didn't use one roofing technique roofers do, that could have saved him a lot of work. Ditch the felt, and just get the gravel!!! Apply whatever adhesive, spreading evenly. Spread out a layer of gravel of your choice. Roll with a linoleum roller. Let it set, then broom off the excess. Finish up with a shop vac to get the last bits. Done, simple, seamless installation. :D
I'd imagine it would make for quite a conversational piece.

Thanks guys for your reviews :D It IS a different flooring method, that's for sure. It would be easy to set up a little test floor of scrap lumber to try this out, I guess if the plastic stuff isn't expensive or comes in a smaller container.
