Alright considering taking a class as soon as the next one is available (I see 2007 is already sold out). However, I just want to be assured one thing before shelling out the dough:
1.) Can I really get logs in Texas? If so, are they affordable?
I have this feeling that the logs are "all gone", lol. I'm guessing we'll get them from East Texas (Piney Woods area).
Looks exciting! Can't wait to learn more.
Skunker,
Can't speak whether you will find logs in your area. I know others in Texas have come across free or inexpensive logs. But even if you can get them locally there are log suppliers where you can order from and even though they do come at premium prices they still arent anywhere as expensive as buying a kit home.
and remember logs roll downhill!!
seriously tho', taking the LHBA class gives a person a whole lot of resources for acquiring logs, sometimes even for FREE.

Thanks guys! I see "stick frame" often mentioned here as compared to logs. What exactly does that mean?

"Stick-framed" is a common term (not just by us log home builders, but by most general contractors as well) that refers to homes built from dimensional lumber, like 2x4's.

Thanks rreidnauer! That's what I thought it was. Btw, I enjoyed your webpage and the aircraft. I have a J3 Cub that I'm trying to get flyable, gonna take a while.
