I'm really excited to be staying at this lodge while we are taking the class. I hear there are a few others taking the class who will also be staying at the lodge. Are you out there? If so, chime in and say HI!

We are staying in the Gaylord House Bed and Breakfast. We have the Lotus Room reserved.

Since the Wallace Lodge was built by a student of Skip's, it may be fun to ask for a tour.

Did you tell her you are with the log home class? She was giving 10% discount. Order the lunches, they are well worth it.

Ask if the stuffed french toast is on the menu.

And tell Kay and Greg that David from Mesa said 'Hi'. If you get in early, drive down by the waterfront, up the way a bit is a lumber mill. You may get to see the tug boats moving the logs through the water and the sea otters diving off the logs.

Thanks for the tip. Yes, we are coming in the day before class starts and I wanted some ideas for something we could do. And we did get the class discount as well as orders in for lunches. Got that tip from other posts.

Lotus Room - That's where I stayed too. KJ another member was staying at the gaylord house the weekend I was there, she was taking the class too. They deliver coffee and the paper to your door for when you get up. They are wonderful hosts.

You can also drive up I-5 north, there is a huge lumber mill on the west side of the highway that is pretty nifty with some water ways to it where they float the logs. Didn't have time to figure out how to get to it. Further up 1-5 was an outlet mall, the exit for the casino. I had to go there to buy long john's, I froze my butt off! My pen froze when we went outside for a demonstration.

Watching the sea otters was really enjoyable. :D

Use a napsack or carry bag (to hold your lunch, notebooks, etc. ) Take along slippers to the class!! You have to take your shoes off outside on the porch. Try and sit in the first row if you can. If you get to go outside for the demo, step up and volunteer if they still do the scribe and cuts for notching demonstration - It's worth your effort - even if you never used a chain saw.

I wanted to get my husband these slippers to wear to the class, but alas, they do not come in size 13!
