WE stayed at the Wallace Falls lodge last weekend and I would highly recommend it. As stated here befor this was built by a student of Skip's
My wife who is very picky about rooms thought this was a new building, not an 8 year old construction. It was spotless and hospitality was great. When you make reservations, ask for Tim, the owner and tell him you are taking the class. He'll come up and show you around and talk logs with you.
It's a little further out but a great experience with good folks. Nothing like southern hospitality.

gump,
my wife and I are very familiar with the Lodge - it's where we got married. You can imagine what it looks like in late July on a perfectly clear day. Magical.

The hills were covered in snow when we arrived though most was gone from the lodge when we left. Since we are from middle Georgia, we didn't mind the snow. Breath taking.

My wife and I stayed there one night after we took the class- definitely a great place to stay. I can't recall the name of the fellow who is the 'caretaker' there  , but he's a great cook!

There is a young man named Jason who is the current caretaker. Jason is friendly and a very good cook.

Jason took care of four of us that attended the class. He was up early and fixed excellent breakfasts.
The place was immaculate.

My wife and I took the class in April, on our day of departure, He got up way early and cooked the best breakfast I've ever tasted! Definetly a great place to stay!

Someone mentioned the Wallace Lodge was built with telephone poles.
Is this true?

I'm pretty sure they're telephone poles, but I'm not sure if they're treated. They do seem to have a hint of green IIRC(could be incorrect here- I was there last fall and my memory isn't great). The lodge turned out very nice and IMHO looks far better than the D logs you see on a lot of kits. I think they also used a permachink style product. The logs do appear to be coated inside and out with a sealer.
