Since my class is not till Febuary let me pop in on this forum section and wish everyone a Merry Christmas or what ever it is you celebrate. Best Wishes! :)

So what did ya'll get "log home" related for gifts? New chainsaws, generators, etc??? My wife and I bought/paid our trip to Seattle and a Stihl 390 for starters.

We got our logs! What more could you want? (Except maybe elves to sneak in at night and strip all the bark off!) I also bought Vern a cutoff saw, which he had been wanting to cut rebar with!

Merry Christmas to all! Next year we hope to celebrate the holidays in our log home!

Well...I got my logs...Kind of...my kids bought me Lincoln Logs! :D I laughed so hard! They said "now you can build your log house, mom!"

My fiance bought me a Carhart jacket to sew my "Certified Log Home Builder" patch onto. :)

There was definitely a theme around my Christmas presents. I got a Carhart jacket, some overalls, safety glasses, ear plugs, and a toolbelt. I also got some books on wiring, carpentry, and doors/windows. Oh, and with some of the money we got for Christmas, my wife and I bought the 40x40 plans from LHBA and are well on our way to building. It was a great Christmas to say the least.

I got them last year. Just got around to building with them. They aren't as good as dowels because they aren't setup for butt and pass, and you can't get a good span out of them without glueing the ends together. My kit wasn't real big, so it makes it tough. It also leaves a lot of holes for chinking.

I'll probably build a real model from longer dowels when I find a screaming deal on them. I just had to build with the lincoln logs, though, because the wife is a 'nay sayer' and I need to show her the concepts are sound.
