To those who stayed in the Gaylord B&B

How long did it take you to get to Skips place? Just want to have an idea of travel time. Im hoping not too long, because I have a late flight in and probably wont get to the B&B until about 12:30 or 1:00 AM Sat morning. I want all the sleep I can get. For that matter, how long was the drive from SeaTac?

I didn't stay there, but Google Maps says 31 minutes. I find their numbers to be quite accurate.

Thanks dude. I didnt even realize you could Google map with GPS coordinates :D Anywho, I have a friend who lives in Arlington, and he mentioned traffic being rediculous down the road between Everett and Monroe (2 I think) He said it turns into a parking lot quite often due to accidents etc.

My wife and I flew in on Thursday on a similar late night flight(don't forget the time change difference- you'll be up very late). We stayed at the Seatac Value Inn that night, but the Gaylord B&B Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night. I'd give at least 30 minutes(from Everett to Skip's), probably a little more, in case you do hit traffic from Everett to Duvall. We hit traffic on saturday morning and were almost late- parking was kind of tight. There is also a lot of road construction around Everett on the highway ramps(or there was in October). There are some detours, and finding the right direction may take some time... 30 minutes is the very minimum the first day, I'd say 45 or more would be best. Sorry for the bad news, but you aren't going to get much sleep. If you got the Lilac room, it has a great bed. :) Make sure you study a map well or ask Kay for directions before you leave. Tell Craig and Kay that Christal and Andy said hello! :)

I don't know how long from SeaTac to Everett- maybe close to an hour if there is no traffic- which there shouldn't be much that late.

When you look for the cow barn across from the parking lot- it is a huge 'red iron' steel building with open sides- not a wooden structure like I tend to see more often here in the South. I think there are some strands of fluorescent tape hanging from the trees near Skip's gate on the left.

Visiting Seattle is great to look forward to. Class is even better and the opportunity to learn how to build your own home - a log home at that - is liberating! It's an accomplishment few people can boast. Not to mention learning how to build one to last and possibly do it mortgage-free or at least as inexpensively as possible.

It's a great feeling to have something so incredible to look forward to! (I'll just be lucky if make it back to Minneapolis. I'm going to be so tempted to stay. Any job leads anyone knows of???)

The "special" cookies are a well quarded secret that only members are privy to. Once you enter the clubhouse, pass through initiation and learn the secret handshake, only then will you learn the magic of the cookies. Sharing these secrets with non-members will cause all your logs to rot on the first full moon after completing your log home.

And yes, Skip's house is HUGE and not something one should miss seeing.

Rod, If a job possibility happened along while I was there, I would give it very serious consideration. I've always wanted to live in Washington.

WalkingHorseLady, you're too funny for color tv! I'm not a big picture taker, but it would be nice to take a few pictures around the house. I know pictures aren't allowed and I respect that, but it sure would have been nice.

I just hope I don't get verklempt and teary-eyed. Makes it hard to take notes that way. Er.., not that I know from first-hand experience or anything. I mean, I've never seen Old Yeller so when I didn't cry when the dog died or nothing. Ok, I.. uh... think I'll ... ...get back to work now.... :oops:

Your friend in Arlington is on the money. Google may say 31 minutes, but that is not in the morning. Give yourself a minimum of 45 minutes. Plus you do not want to jog up the hill to Skip's cabin. There are a few lights on the way. You will sit through many rotations at these lights. If I remember, the ride from Sea Tac was close to an hour. However, at that late hour, it should be a lot quicker.

You will enjoy the Gaylord House. It is nice and easy to find. Sleep on the plane. You will be busy. You will be amazed.

Skip's house is mind blowing! Not only is it huge massive and generally larger than life, it is filled with momentos from his life and travels that will knock your socks off! :shock:
