Since obviously not everyone is willing to spend the time to build their cabin themselves, perhaps it would be helpful if this site maintained a list of contractors that have taken the course and currently build log homes.
The contractor I'm looking at says that they charge about $110 per sq. foot to build a log home. Haven't talked with him yet, but I'd be willing to pay this much, so long as I know its going to be quality. The cabin I'm looking at is 1603 sq. ft.
Here is the URL of the plans that I like:
http://www.oicabins.com/products/plans/robson.htm
Their site also says:
"If you want the look of log, but don't want the added expense and maintenance, we can provide log siding to replace the cedar siding that generally comes with the cabin kit."
Bologna I'm sure, but what is a guy to do. I want a cabin, don't want to build it myself.
I'd love to have a cabin like some you've built here, if there was only a contractor in my area who applied the methods and built cabins like I see on this site.
Any suggestions?
