Can someone please reply? Is the LHBA forum still active? I took Skip's class long ago, have all my detailed noted, and I'm now ready to build. I was hoping to use you all as a resource, and share my progress. But I see no activity here. I've also repeatedly requested access to the member's only section and gotten no response. Has this whole thing died out?

Hello WW on the W.
[a friendly tone]
I did see your request, but it's a tough one because you have no membership card.
Clearly the forum is not 'active.'
The forum are on a unsecured (old) version of the software, hiring a reasonable seeming software /tech developer has proved to be an interesting and difficult process.
The forum will likely go offline for a while with no ETA on it's return, but it's a project that is being worked on.
Sorry about the inconvenience of this reality, and perhaps the forum shall return in one form or another.

Thanks for the quick reply!
I assume you're Skip's son, and Skip is no longer with us?
That's too bad that this forum will be disappearing soon, right about the time I'm building a serious house. There's a wealth of knowledge here, and I'm sure it's an even greater wealth in the Members sections.
Fortunately, my wife and I took copious notes at Skip's classes, and learned more attending his get togethers and helping a couple of his other students build their houses. But if there's any way I could peruse the forums before they go away, that would be great. While our paper LHBA cards haven't survived the last 40 years, Skip's class, his incredible house, and his quirky mannerisms are all still fresh in my mind, and I doubt I'd have any trouble proving my attendance and my interactions with Skip.
Thanks
Ellsworth

You're surely right about all that.
I did some research lately into how many mistakes the average person makes during a day of work. Some sources say 50. Then I broke it down by the hour, and sources say it's about 5-6 per hour. There's apparently some good date on the topic, and you might find it as interesting as I did to spend some time researching it (not insinuating that either one of us are above or below the reported averages)..
Meanwhile, my Microsoft's ESU purchase keeps giving me errors, but registering a domain name works fine. Ahhh, deadlines sure do effect performance.

OK, not quite sure how to interpret all that, but I appreciate you responding and considering my request.

There you go, one of my 50 mistakes for the day. Sorry for sounding confusing.
Yes I'm one of his sons. Yes he passed away. As to the forum, it's being worked on. As to your last paragraph, I am glad you enjoyed the experience and I hope your build goes smoothly. For the time being the forum is still here, if you have any questions about your build.

With the forum becoming inaccessible soon, is it possible to download a local archive of the entire LHBA forum? HTTrack sounds like it could do it, but I don't know.

With the forum becoming inaccessible soon,
Care to elucidate / elaborate on the statement part of your question?
If you know something I don't, by all means let me know so I can save the cognitive load and continuing effort (hardly a joke).

Above you said "The forum will likely go offline for a while with no ETA on it's return". Perhaps this is what donjuedo was referring to.

OIC, heck without someone using the "quote" feature, I won't remember what I posted a week ago. Yes it's possible the forum will go off line with no eta on it's return. There's nothing more to write into that. Like a restaurant temporarily closing for a remodel, sometimes it's fast sometimes it's slow.
