Arguably a butt and pass log home, built using site harvested logs, can be one of the most environmentally friendly building methods that exist.
From drastically reduced shipping/processing of wood needed for log versus stick construction, to overall carbon sequestering, to et cetera.

In addition to the natural advantage of Butt and Pass, starting in 2025 the LHBA is going to increase the effort.
A student can contact us with a count of the house logs they used and the LHBA will then arrange for that many trees to be planted (for homes finished in the same calendar year).
A 1:1 ratio, every student built Butt and Pass log home that is finished will have an equal number of replacement trees planted to the logs the student used.
