Hi everybody

I'm Jim and getting ready to build a log home in Tennessee. I currently live in South Florida and want to escape to heat and hurricanes. I'm building the Barna Westwind IV just north of Chattanooga. Right now I'm trying to find a builder that wont take me to the bank. I have already got one estimate of 650,000 from a contractor who thinks he is going to get rich by milking me. Neadless to say I'm looking for another builder. Already have learned a few things from the articles I've read in the forum.

Take the class. Before you sign up a contractor, take the class. (Hopefully before you signed the contracts for the kit.) I was going to do a kit home, but after the class and searching the web for litigation on kit home manufactures and kit home builders, I decided I would build it myself (when I can).

The class is well worth the money. If you are planning on building a log home and have the idea that builders out there know what they are doing you really need to come to the class. It is the only way to keep yourself informed on what is ahead. 8)
