I'm building a northern white cedar home that sat for nearly 2 years without an exterior finish. I've recently cleaned the exterior with sodium hydrochloride and a pressure washer. After sanding the surface the wood color is very orange. I'm trying to use a light brown stain but the color of the wood is overpowering it. Is there anything I can do before staining to return the wood to it's natural white color? Even darkening it a little would help. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

After cleaning wood it needs to be neutralized. It balaces the PH level and lightens the wood (sometimes dramatically)

Use oxalic acid for fast action (where safety equip)

Citralic acid for good but slower results (no safety equip required)
