Log cabin attic access..

hello all, im new to the forum.. i am at the tail end of finishing a log siding home. we are using 8" high red cedar log siding with cabots cordovan brown stain (pre-stained from factory). at each of the gable ends i have a 3' wide by 4' high access into the attic area (for access to the storage area in attic). i have done pretty good w/ designing the house but i am stuck.. need to come up with the design of the attic access on the side of house. i dont want to just use logs but maybe some other material. this access will be on a hing, kinda like a door

I would just make a door out of plywood and attach log siding to it to blend in with the rest of the wall.

Have you checked code in your area for exterior entrances into attic areas? That will probably dictate a lot of what you end up doing.
